DESCRIPTION:Mirko Casu and Prof. Caponnetto present a project titled “AI in Action: Pioneering an Algorithm for Smoke-Free Living Through Wearable Tech” at the “Second European Conference Of Digital Psychology: Psychology and AI: New Horizons”\, the second edition of this conference promoted by the Sigmund Freud University Milan on March 21 and 22\, 2024. \nThe project involves the development of artificial intelligence algorithms for detecting movements related to cigarette smoking\, with the aim of integrating these algorithms into commercial and/or clinical applications to promote quitting traditional cigarette smoking. The project\, in collaboration with the Center of Excellence for Harm Reduction (CoEHAR) spin-off of the University of Catania\, a city globally recognized as a smoke-free capital in the field of research\, and the SiciliAn MicronanOTecH Research And Innovation CEnter (SAMOTHRACE)\, is an example of interdisciplinary and interdepartmental work at the University of Catania. It involves researchers from the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science\, specialized in the development of algorithms and the technical management of the tools used\, and the Psychology Section of the Department of Educational Sciences\, experts in smoking cessation techniques and models of intervention related to clinical psychology and addiction.
