DESCRIPTION:For over a decade we have been living in a state of global crisis that affects all citizens\, all social spheres\, the entire psychophysical sphere of each one and the entire planet. Essentially\, the root cause is to be identified in a widespread attitude of indifference towards the Balance of the Ecosystem and the Safety of Man and the Planet\, underestimating the importance that\, instead\, these factors assume on maintaining the state of Health of the individual and the community. \nIn the “Glossary of the Ministry of Health” a significant definition of “Patient Safety” can be identified: “Dimension of the quality of health care\, which guarantees\, through the identification\, analysis and management of risks and possible incidents for patients\, the design and implementation of operational systems and processes that minimize the likelihood of error\, potential risks and possible consequent damage to patients”. \nFurthermore\, WHO – World Health Organization – in the Shanghai Declaration\, 2016\, stated: “Health develops in the contexts of daily life\, in neighborhoods and communities where people live\, work\, love\, shop and have fun. Health is one of the most effective and powerful indicators of sustainable development and success of every city (and community)\, and contributes to making cities (and communities) inclusive\, safe\, and resilient for the entire populationaliero-Universitaria “Policlinico-V. Emanuele” di Catania. \nHealth is therefore our most precious asset and it is up to all of us to protect it as best we can\, becoming aware of the negative impact that choices\, habits and incorrect lifestyles have on it. In particular\, the best possible health security is achieved through the accurate analysis of the health status of the individual and the community\, with the aim of prevention and early treatment\, removal or at least reduction of health risks through the transmission of appropriate recommendations and treatments that meet criteria of clinical evidence and\, at the same time\, of environmental and social sustainability. The identification of risk factors and the targeted intervention for their elimination should be the first objective in a socio-health context of best practice for the protection of the health of all citizens. It is therefore appropriate to pay adequate attention to both clinical-diagnostic aspects and those related to scientific research\, sociological studies\, environmental sciences\, sustainable management of natural resources and appropriate use of structural and technological resources. \nThe Sanit Conference is therefore aimed at acquiring interdisciplinary skills on global health risk factors in the medical-scientific\, sociological\, economic and global sustainability fields\, with the development of targeted health and social intervention strategies for the removal of these factors.

Covid has taught a lot\, but not enough.\nAn unhealthy environment\, unhealthy nutrition generate a huge impact on health\, a huge fallout in medical expenses\, a cost for years of life in bad health\, a huge pressure on medical assistance.\nThus resources are taken away from those who really need to be treated\, from those who must have access to innovative treatments\, monitoring technologies\, extensive screening\, modern diagnostic tools\, tools for disease follow-up.\nMore healthy environment\, more healthy nutrition\, more health translates into: more resources for the best treatments and more resources for sick citizens\, more room for innovation.\nThe concept of Global Health implies a connection between different worlds and renewed paths. SUMMARY:International scientific conference on e-cigarette
DESCRIPTION:The objective of this e-cigarette conference is to create a place for international researchers and professionals working in the field of e-cigarette\, and more generally anyone interested in and working on tobacco\, to meet. It is intended to review ongoing research and identify any outstanding research questions by focusing on two central areas within this field: health effects and user trajectories. \nThis conference is based on a multidisciplinary approach: fundamental\, humanities and social sciences\, clinical\, population health intervention research\, etc. \nVaping devices\, including e-cigarettes\, are recent products that have now been commercially available for more than 10 years and have resulted in scientific questions and debates. The scientific community was quick to take an interest in e-cigarettes\, particularly in their use as a smoking cessation tool. This interest is evident in the scientific literature with an increase in published international studies from 2016. \nHowever\, the initial scientific findings do not provide enough follow-up to assess whether – and to what extent – e-cigarettes might be beneficial or harmful for health. Further data are needed in this regard and around usage and user trajectories: do e-cigarettes aid smoking cessation\, or do they encourage addiction relapses? \nSince 2015\, The French National Cancer Institute has been a major player in developing tobacco control research. Indeed\, tobacco use is the leading preventable cancer-related death factor\, making it a public health priority. INCa’s action in this field – particularly its research action – is reasserted in its ten-year anti-cancer strategy\, with funding and support for research\, scientific innovation\, junior researchers; involvement in European initiatives\,\nand the provision of discussion opportunities with the scientific community to help disseminate knowledge. In this context\, and to address the scientific and health challenges raised by e-cigarettes\, INCa is organising – within the Addiction Fund – an international scientific meeting around e-cigarette research.

DESCRIPTION:Targeting the Addictiveness of Smoked Tobacco in New Zealand\nNicotine is the primary constituent in cigarettes responsible for maintaining smoking behavior. In December 2021\, the New Zealand (NZ) Government launched the Smokefree Aotearoa 2025 Action Plan\, outlining a strategy to reduce smoking prevalence to less than 5% by 2025. The plan is world-leading with transformative goals including: 1) eliminate health inequities in smoking rates and smoking-related illness; 2) ensure youth never start smoking tobacco; and 3) increase quitting in people who smoke. A major component of the initiative is to mandate a low nicotine product standard for smoked tobacco. Similarly\, in the United States\, the Biden administration recently announced its intention to pursue a low nicotine product standard for cigarettes and other combusted tobacco products\, reviving a pillar of the Comprehensive Framework for Nicotine and Tobacco Regulation announced in 2017.
