6th summit on THR Athens

CoEHAR Director and the PI of the In Silico Science project will join experts, scientists and THR advocates at the 6th Summit on Tobacco Harm Reduction: Novel products, Research & Policy ( 25-26 September, Athens) by SCHORE

The 6th Summit on Tobacco Harm Reduction: Novel products, Research & Policy, is organised by SCOHRE, the International Association on Smoking Control & Harm Reduction, on September 25 and 26, 2023, as a hybrid event: with physical presence in Athens, Greece, at the Royal Olympic Hotel, and virtual attendance.

During the conference, top researchers, clinicians, and scientists from diverse fields, from all over the world, will present and discuss their work and will share their knowledge on tobacco harm reduction strategies and future perspective.

Two CoEHAR researchers will be part of this great event: the CoEHAR Director, Giovanni Li Volti, who is also PI of the Replica project, will present “Cigarette smoke and Reduced risk products as modifying factors in Non- Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease progression” and the In Silico Science PI, Dr. Renée O’Leary, researcher at CoEHAR, who will address the presentation “At the Top of the Evidence Pyramid – Clinical Evidence on the Effectiveness of E-Cigarettes for Tobacco Cigarette Cessation“.

As we read in the conference presentation, in previous Summits it was established that, during the last 30 years, the prevalence of smoking has decreased steadily around the globe. However, as populations have grown, the total number of smokers has increased. There is increasing interest on Tobacco Harm Reduction as a tool to reduce the detrimental consequences of cigarette smoking to the human population of the planet. However, more data is needed for politicians and public health regulators to make informed decisions.
