The Coehar Director, Giovanni Li Volti and the Co-project Leader for Replica, Dr. Massimo Caruso have organized a tour to all the international partners of the project to harmonize the protocols of the study for the first year of the Replica Project

Replica is one of the most important project of The Coehar, Center of Excellence for the Acceleration of Harm Reduction, and it aims to confirm and replicate the most relevant research regarding in vitro studies on cytotoxicity, oxidative stress, genotoxicity, mutagenicity and inflammation induced by the exposure of human cells to the aerosol of electronic cigarettes and THP aerosol.

The first stop of the Replica Tour was in Greece, where Li Volti and Caruso visited the labs of professor Konstantinos Poulas in the Patras Science Park of the University of Patras.

Then, the team flew to Kragujevac (Serbia) where they met Prof. Vladislav Volarevic of the Center for Molecular Medicine and Stem Cell Research of the University of Kragujevac.

The last stop of the Replica Tour was the visit to the labs of Prof. Fahad, at the University of Sultan Quabos in Muscat (Oman), where they proceed to conduct an experiment to show the effects of smoking and vapors on non-respiratory cancer cells.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the tour has been interrupted, but the researchers are working on the project.
